The whole storyboard process should be a clear visual form of communication, easily understandable and include a variety of creative shots considering the Rule of Thirds, angles, lighting effects and compositions. Also detailing certain camera pans and movements.
For my storyboard I have decided on telling the nursery rhyme of Itsy Bitsy Spider. I won't include any dialogue, I want it to be simple and communicate enough through image. In the Nursery rhyme, Itsy Bitsy spider possesses an unknown incentive to keep going up the water spout, I have elaborated this to being a woman spider... This then develops the character of Itsy Bitsy to be a lonely individual, craving attention of a lady spider. So I created Itsy Bitsy to possess quite an unattractive appearance but with that tint of cuteness so the audience feel for him and his attempts and making it to her.
When he finally makes it up the spout, Itsy will see that the lady spider and her web were destroyed.
After being inspired by a Youtube video I have created mock up frames on Post-It notes so I can edit the sequence of the animation till I am 100% happy with its order. Aardman also use a version of this technique to decide the sequence in which their animations will pan out.
Example of my Storyboard Mock-Ups.
After discarding about 10 mock up post it frames, I am finally happy with the order and length of my animation. My mock ups detail sound effects and sketchy initial movements and compositions. I will now set to work crafting into frames in a professional manner.
