Production Diary 5 - Rock fall keyframe timings

For exaggerated humour purposes, I wanted the rock to unnaturally pause for a second in mid air, like you see in the retro comedy animations such as "Looney Tunes", as a character runs off a cliff, they hang for a moment in mid air before they fall, offering the audience that element of suspension. However with my rock there is no suspension, I just think this would add to the humour of the scream, rather than a realistic fall to the ground.

But the question is, how long should the rock hang in the air?

I rendered 2 videos to compare:

Shorter airtime

Longer air time

I asked around quite a few friends and class-mates which they preferred and the general consensus was that the prolonged air-time was better! One person even commented that it looks as if the rock itself is in freight, which I thought was a great evaluation of what I want to personify about the rock.
